Introduction

Dr Marcus Auth (MD, PD, FRCPCH) is a Consultant Paediatrician specialising in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool.

Using this website you can book an appointment at his private practice at the Nuffield Health Grosvenor Hospital, Chester.

Appointments are usually face to face. Video consultations and follow-up telephone consultations are possible upon discretion and agreement in advance.

Dr Auth sees patients predominantly from the North West of England, North Wales and Isle of Man via face to face or video consultations. Patients from further afield may be seen after individual consideration.

Dr Marcus Auth was invited to present at the Excellence in Paediatrics (EiP) international meeting in Barcelona.
Marcus was an invited expert speaker and UK representative at German Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology in Essen.
Dr Marcus Auth held presentations to specialists about the First Global Guidelines on Eosinophilic Gastro-Intestinal Diseases (EGID) to which he has been a senior co-author.
These have been published in the prestigious Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN) in the January issue of 2024.
Dr Marcus Auth was an invited expert speaker and UK representative at the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology (BSPGHAN) in Bristol in March. He has been nominated by his national colleagues for a distinguished BSPGHAN lifetime award.
Marcus held presentations to specialists about the First Global Guidelines on Eosinophilic Gastro-Intestinal Diseases (EGID) to which he has been a leading senior co-author, has overseen national surveys on the standards of treatment and transition from paediatric to adult services, and quality of life in children with Eosinophilic Oesophagitis.
Dr Auth is also a senior member of the European Guideline Group for EoE, EGID, endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy, World Guideline Group for EGID, and national adult and paediatric working group for EoE.
He has contributed to the brand new publications of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology (ESPGHAN) on EoE. These have been published in the prestigious Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN) in the January issue of 2024.

The University of Liverpool has awarded Dr Marcus Auth the title of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the School of Medicine.


NEWS: May 2022
Dr Marcus Auth has been awarded the prestigious GutsUK/BSPGHAN Research award 2022 for studies on the gut microbiome in children with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE).
Dr Marcus Auth, on behalf of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, has co-published the first guideline on management of paediatric and adult patients with EoE, which is published in the prestigious journal Gut in the May issue of 2022.

Dr Auth presented lectures about eosinophilic oesophagitis and nutritional support for the training programme of the British and Europan Society of Gastroenterology.
He has contributed to or led on new medical publications from 2020-2022 on eosinophilic oesophagitis, inflammatory bowel disease, food-related gastroenterological disorders, rare forms of bleeding from the gut, impact of COVID on children’s health, and transition of children to adult care.

Dr Marcus Auth was an invited expert and UK representative at the first European Symposium on Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases, (EGID) in Athens.
Marcus held presentations to specialists on Dietetic management in EGID, health related quality of life in EGIDs, management of Eosinophilic Colitis.
Dr Auth is also a member of the European Guideline Group for EoE, World Guideline Group for EGID, and national adult and paediatric working group for EoE.

NEWS: November 2020
Dr Auth completed a state of the art educational programme ‘Nutrition and Pediatric Care Programme” at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in October 2020, and participation in the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Annual Meeting in October 2020, devoting sessions on recognition and management of food allergies.

Dr Auth contributed to a national panel which assessed the effect of COVID on service provision and management of paediatric inflammatory bowel disease , the results were published in Gut 2021.

My son has suffered from severe constipation and bowel incontinence since he was 2 1/2 years old. Having persevered for a further 3 years with 0% success of feeling a bowel movement, Dr Auth recommended using another medication daily as the next course of action. After 4 months of using this, my son has started feeling bowel movements with 87% success rate. His behavioural problems have now virtually disappeared and he is enjoying school and family life in a way not enjoyed before.
